POLYFUN @ ECCM22

POLYFUN members attended the 22nd European Conference on Composite Materials (ECCM22) held in Oslo (Norway) from June 21 to 25.

The conference was a valuable opportunity to engage with the international scientific community and showcase the group’s diverse research activities.

Giovanni and Natalia presented the group’s research on thermoplastic biocomposites, with a particular focus on interfacial shear strength and adhesion between natural fibres and polymer matrices, with a talk on “Effect of Processing Pressure on the Interfacial Shear Strength in Hemp/PLA Biocomposites” (Giovanni) and another one on “Enzymatic Surface Treatment to Enhance Interfacial Performance of Hemp Fibers in PLA Biocomposites” (Natalia). Veronica presented our latest findings on the mechanochemical recycling of epoxy materials in the contribution “Vitrimeric Composites Based on OH-Rich Waste Fillers”. Finally, Daniel presented the first results of the POLYNEW project on the structure–property relationships of biopolymeric aerogels in “Engineering Biopolymer–Nanoparticle Aerogels: Mechanical Properties and Microstructural Control by Freeze-Casting”.

We returned home with new connections, fresh ideas, and new perspectives for our research.

The meeting provided an excellent opportunity to share our latest findings, strengthen collaborations, and explore new research directions.
