Project title: Water remediation based on nanostructured photonic materials – WATERONIC
Project leader at POLYFUN: Martina Salzano de Luna
Partners: University of Florence, University of Genoa, CNR-IMM
Funding programme: PRIN 2022 – Italian Ministry of University and Research, funded by the European Union – Next Generation EU, Mission 4 Component 1
Budget: 49 k€
Duration: 09/2023 – 09/2025
WATERONIC proposes new liquid crystalline networks as selective adsorbents with built-in photocatalytic functionalities, whose adsorption, and then photodegradation effect versus emerging organic pollutants will be enhanced ad-hoc by using photonic structures. Hence, WATERONIC aims at breakthrough results overcoming the state-of-art on water purification exploiting different concepts and materials used in photonics.
